hand-drawn self portrait of a writer
hi!

I write things down by hand, then put them here.

Writer, zine-maker, and keeper of one very stubborn houseplant. This page is everything I make, in one stack of paper.

still figuring most of it out, honestly

the short version

A bio you can read in one coffee sip

I'm Nell. I live in a small flat with a big desk, where I write essays about slow software, analog habits, and why paper still beats every app I've tried. By day I'm a freelance editor; by night I run a riso printer that my neighbors have opinions about.

I've been blogging since 2019 — 142 posts and counting, most of them written longhand first. The long version of this bio is, essentially, the entire blog.

Currently on the desk

A now page, because a bio tells you who I was and this tells you who I am this month.

“The Shepherd's Life” — slowly, in the bath, the way it deserves.

  • Making

Zine issue #4: a field guide to the neighborhood's forgotten benches.

  • Listening

One album on repeat until it stops working. Currently: week three.

  • Tending

The stubborn houseplant. It grew a new leaf and I told everyone.
