Methodology, sources, and the rules we write by.
Basel Index is a demonstration publication. Everything here describes how a credible finance desk would document its process — so that a reader can check the argument, not just trust the byline.
Principles

Source every number
No figure appears without a footnote naming its origin and as-of date. If we can't source it, we don't print it.
- 02
Show the arithmetic
Where a claim rests on a calculation, the calculation is in the piece — not hidden behind a conclusion.
- 03
Separate fact from view
Data is reported neutrally; opinion is labelled as such. Red is reserved for down and for errors — never for emphasis.

Correct in public
Material errors are fixed with a dated note appended to the piece, never quietly overwritten.
