Margaux Vane
For two decades she has sat front row and told the truth about what she saw there. Gloss Ledger is the magazine she always wanted to read — and could never find on a newsstand.

A Manifesto, of Sorts
I started Gloss Ledger because fashion writing had forgotten it was allowed to have a point of view. Everything had become a product page with adjectives. I wanted a place where a collection could be argued with, a colour could be taken seriously, and a sentence could take its time.
We publish slowly and rarely. We photograph in black and white because it forces the eye to look at cut and posture rather than being flattered by colour. And we allow ourselves exactly one indulgence: a single, insistent shade of red, spent like money we do not quite have.
