Bread made slowly

Sourdough, pastries, and butter-laminated dough from a small kitchen in Kleinbasel. We bake in the morning and sell by name until the case is empty.

Mara, head baker at Crumb & Twine

One kitchen, one oven, one name at a time.

Crumb & Twine opened in Kleinbasel in 2018. Mara bakes the bread, Jona runs the counter, and a small team of early risers shapes every croissant by hand. We buy flour from a mill in Aargau and eggs from a farm ten kilometres up the Rhine.

We are not trying to be the biggest bakery in Basel. We are trying to be the one you walk to on Saturday morning.

Cakes by order

Birthdays, weddings, office mornings, and small celebrations. We take orders up to three weeks ahead, and we always find fifteen minutes to talk through buttercream, fruit, and dietary needs.
