The stay

Salt on the windows, quiet in the walls

Gullwing is a 1930s fisherman's cottage we rebuilt board by board — reclaimed shingle outside, pale oak and limewash inside. Three bedrooms sleep six: a king with a dune view, a queen under the eaves, and a bunk room the kids refuse to leave.

Days here are simple. Coffee on the deck while the tide decides what it's doing, sandy lunches at the garden table, and a log burner for the evenings when the sea mist rolls in. The beach path starts at the back gate — 140 steps, we counted.

Booking direct means you pay us, not a platform — roughly 15% less than the listed sites, with the same calendar and the same clean sheets. We answer messages ourselves, usually within the hour.

— Marta & Ellis, your hosts since 2019

House rules

A few things we ask

Gullwing is our family's cottage first and a rental second, so we keep the rules short and mean every one of them. If anything's unclear, just ask — we'd rather answer a question than write another rule.

Check-in

From 4:00 pm

Check-out

By 10:00 am

  • Dogs welcome, two at most

Downstairs only, off the sofas, and never left alone in the cottage.

  • No smoking anywhere on the property

Including the deck and garden — shingle burns faster than you'd think.

  • Quiet from 10 pm

The dunes carry sound; our neighbours have been here forty years.

  • No parties or extra overnight guests

Six sleepers max — it's an insurance thing, not a grumpiness thing.

  • Firepit on still evenings only

Bucket of water beside it, embers out before bed.

Guest book

What guests write on the way out

“We've stayed at Camber five summers running and this is the one the kids now call 'our house'. The bunk room, the kite box, the outdoor shower — every detail is someone actually thinking.”

Priya N.

Family of five · August 2025

“Booked direct after finding the site and Marta replied in twenty minutes. Saved us nearly £200 on the platform price for the same week. Cottage is even better than the photos.”

Tom & Sarah W.

Couple + spaniel · October 2025

“Came in February for the emptiness and the log burner and it delivered on both. Storm-watching from the king bed with coffee is now my whole personality.”
