Bistro de quartier — Paris 11e — depuis 1987
Linen napkins, a zinc bar, and the plats du jour chalked up each morning. Lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Sunday.
Bienvenue
Since 1987, Le Marronnier has fed the Rue de la Folie-Méricourt the way a bistro should: onion soup that takes three days, a roast chicken on Sundays, and a carte short enough that everything on it is worth ordering. Chef Pascale Aubert shops Rungis before dawn; the bread arrives from the bakery on the corner still warm.
Come for lunch with a carafe of Côtes du Rhône, stay for an île flottante. No white tablecloth ceremony — just a good table, kept for you.

Un avant-goût
Three-day beef broth, sweet onions, a raft of Comté toast.
Bavette from Boucherie Renard, twice-cooked frites, green peppercorn cream.
Chilled leeks, mustard vinaigrette, chopped egg and chives.
Bourbon vanilla custard under a sheet of burnt sugar, cracked at the table.

Depuis 1987
Henri and Colette Marchand opened the doors with twelve tables and one rule: cook what the market gives you. The chestnut tree in the courtyard gave the place its name; the regulars gave it its soul.
Today chef Pascale Aubert keeps the rule — and the recipe book Colette left behind in the till drawer.
Notre histoire“The onion soup alone is worth crossing the river for. It feels like the Paris everyone promises you and nobody delivers.
